Kenya Fifteens Rugby team to play Senegal in Uganda

They will Saturday take on Senegal in their first match of Rugby championship.

The Kenya Fifteens Rugby team will Saturday take on Senegal in their first match of the Rugby Championship in Uganda.

The match will be the second of four games scheduled to take place at the Nelson Mandela Stadium starting from 10am.

Head coach Jerome Paarwater has named a strong side that will be captained by George Nyambua assisted by Eugene Sifuna and Samson Onsomu.

He said he was happy with the team that he had selected.

“I’m very happy with the team we have selected for Saturday. We have selected the strongest possible team in the setup with the understanding that this won’t be an easy match but I’m confident that we can get points from this game,” said Jerome.

From the match-day squad of 23 players, selected to play, 20 of them have represented the Simbas in previous tournaments while three players namely Abutwalib Wesonga, Richel Wangila and Obat Kuke could make their debut for the National side are set to start on the bench.

Jerome says he is happy with the debutantes.

He said he expects senior players in the team led by Nyambua and others to guide them and keep them calm on the field.

"It's a great opportunity for them to play in the Africa Cup, I am looking forward to seeing how they play. I know they will give their best because it's always good to have young players in the team. It's a great opportunity for the team and I am confident they will deliver," he added.
