Alice Wahome storms Kandara to celebrate nomination to Cabinet

Kandara burst into celebrations on Friday evening when Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development CS nominee Alice Wahome returned to the constituency for a homecoming.

Wahome, who was elected as MP for the Kandara constituency in the 2013 general elections and successfully defended her seat in 2017, had been nominated to the position hours earlier.

Wahome was among the six CSs who were nominated for reappointment to the Cabinet by President William Ruto.

Others are Kithure Kindiki (Interior), Rebecca Miano (Attorney General), Aden Duale (Defence ) Davis Chirchir (Roads), and Soipan Tuya (Environment).

Wahome found a crowd in Kandara already waiting for her to celebrate the occasion.

“I am most grateful for the second nomination. I want to thank God for the second opportunity to serve the country and then thank President William Ruto for finding it fit to give me a second chance,” she said.

“It is a big honour not just a privilege, it’s a big responsibility and I appreciate and commit to deliver on my mandate.”

In his address at State House on Friday, President Ruto said the first batch of the Cabinet nominees will help him in driving the urgently needed and irreversible transformation of the country.

Wahome, Kindiki, Duale and Tuya have retained their previous dockets although Chirchir has been moved. He previously held the Energy docket.

Miano was the previous CS for Industry and Trade
