Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang'wa has told the MPs to be cautious when vetting the newly nominated cabinet secretaries.

Thang'wa emphasised the importance of the lawmakers factoring in the views of Kenyans before recommending any of them for appointment.

"It is now the duty of the MPs, before they approve any individual they should listen to the people," he said.

Speaking Saturday in Mwea, Kirinyaga, the senator noted that this is the only way to avoid protests as was witnessed recently across the country.

He was among the leaders accompanying Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for the consecration and installation of Kirinyaga region Bishop Samuel Karimi.

Governor Ann Waiguru was a no-show during the event.

"Raia wakisema hivi, msitake tuseme reject, wakisema reject huyo, mnareject. Wakenya ni 50 million (Don't prompt Kenyans to start shouting reject again, if they say they oppose and individual just reject, we have 50 million Kenyans)," he said.

He said there are many deserving individuals who can be considered for those positions.

He, however, asked Mt Kenya residents to pray for those from the region who have been nominated .

President William Ruto nominated Friday 11 CSs after dissolving the cabinet on July 11 following the heightened protests by the Gen Zs in the country.

He said the first batch of the Cabinet nominees will help him in driving the urgently needed and irreversible transformation of the country.

The six CSs who made a comeback are Kithure Kindiki (Interior) Alice Wahome (Lands, Public Works, Urban Development and Housing) Aden Duale (Defence ) Davis Chirchir (Roads), Soipan Tuya (Environment).

Kindiki, Duale and Tuya have retained their previous dockets although Chirchir has been moved.

He previously held the Energy docket.

Rebecca Miano who was the previous CS for Industry and Trade has been nominated for the post of Attorney General.

"Further consultations are ongoing after which I will announce more names in due course," Ruto said.
