Former Mining Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has expressed his gratitude following his nomination as the Trade Cabinet Secretary.

Mvurya is among the CSs who have made a comeback following their recent dismissal.

“I take this early opportunity to express my hearty gratitude to H.E President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, for nominating me as Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry,” he wrote.

“I sincerely appreciate this affirmation of trust and confidence.”

Mvurya said he is eagerly waiting to appear before the National Assembly’s committee on Appointments for vetting.

He added that he is ready to serve the country in the new position with commitment and dedication to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the implementation of policies.

“I pledge to stay focused on the promotion of a conducive environment that will enable both domestic and foreign investment to thrive for the benefit of all Kenyans,” he noted.

President William Ruto named the CSs Wednesday in a televised address to the nation.

Others who were in the previous cabinet are Kipchumba Murkomen (Youth and sports), Rebecca Miano (Tourism), Justin Muturi (Public Service) and Alfred Mutua (Labour).

Those named in the first list are Kithure Kindiki (Interior), Aden Duale (Climate Change and Forestry), Alice Wahome (Lands, Public Works, Urban Development and Housing), Soipan Tuya (Defence) Environment, and Davis Chirchir, who transitions from Energy to Roads and Transport.

The post of the Attorney General now remains vacant.

Ruto had initially nominated Miano for the position.

The names of the first batch have been forwarded to Parliament.

Kenyans are expected to submit views by next Wednesday ahead of the commencement of the vetting exercise.
