Tragedy struck a family after their two-year-old baby girl drowned in a fish pond outside their residence in Kiambu Town.
The incident happened within the compound of Kiambu GK Prisons where the child and her family stay.
The child was reported missing on July 23 as her mother was on duty at the local prison facility where she works.
The search ended at one of the fish ponds that are within the compound where the body was found floating.
She was rescued and was rushed to Kiambu Level Five Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was moved to Kenyatta University referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
In Murang’a’s Kaha-ini village, a man drowned in the Thika River as he fetched water.
Witnesses said they spotted the man fetching water before he slipped and drowned.
The victim was watering a riverside garden and was fetching water from the river when the incident happened on Wednesday evening.
The body of the man was later retrieved and taken to a local mortuary pending autopsy and identification.
