DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa now says he is not interested in joining the Kenya Kwanza government.

Not even in any capacity including serving as Attorney General or Cabinet Secretary, he said.

The former Defence Cabinet Secretary in Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration said he cannot take any job offer from the current government.

“What I want Ruto cannot give me. I cannot get a job in Ruto’s government. I don’t want to be one of his ministers, and I don’t want his money," Wamalwa said.

The ex-CS stated that he would not even contemplate taking up the AG position, saying it would amount to a downgrade having served as Justice Minister after the promulgation of the 201o Constitution.

"The AG's office was a department in my ministry when I served as Justice Minister during the implementation of the Constitution, how can it be that after being a minister, I be demoted to a departmental head?" he posed.

Wamalwa said he had served as minister in past governments for many years including heading the giant Devolution ministry in which "I was in charge of all the 47 governors".

"At the Defence Ministry, I was in charge of the Kenyan Defence Forces including the Kenya Army, Airforce and Navy, I am not interested in any ministry in Ruto's government," he said.

The EX-CS said he is after the country's presidency.

"What I am after, is that seat which Ruto is holding. Do you think he will surrender it to me, that is the only position I am seeking,"  he said.

Wamalwa said he would work with the protesters opposing Ruto's administration so that together they could form their government.

"I am supporting the youth of Gen-Z, so we remove Ruto from office and then form our government,” he insisted.

The former CS spoke days after President William Ruto nominated members of the opposition into his government following weeks of protests by Gen Z.

Ruto tapped former governors Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya; and MPs John Mbadi and Opiyo Wandayi as his CSs as he moves to stabilise his administration.

There have been speculations about who will be given the position of AG after President Ruto picked Justin Muturi for the Public Service portfolio.

Rebbeca Miano, whom Ruto had nominated to succeed Muturi was moved to the Tourism docket, leaving the AG slot vacant.

Main opposition leaders including Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka and Narc Kenya's Martha Karua have insisted they will not take up that position.

There have been reports that the president has dangled the position to the opposition leaders in Azimio as part of his expanded government strategy.

The position of East African Community and Regional Development is also vacant after Ruto failed to name any nominee for the post.
