President William Ruto said on Sunday that the current times call for the unity of all Kenyans and working together.

Speaking after a church service in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County, the president insisted that it is time for Kenyans to pull together.

Referring to the day's teaching at the ACK St Peters Ngambwa Church, the President said there are different seasons for everything.

"Like we have been preached, this is the time to unite and work together so that we can take Kenya forward,'' Ruto said in his brief remarks.

He said they had agreed with the political leaders that there was not going to be politics in church.

Only the county's woman representative Lydiah Haika and governor Andrew Mwadime got an opportunity to address the church briefly.

"You the people of Taita are known for praying, I want to ask you and the whole country to pray for the country," the president said.

"Let's all unite during this season of uniting Kenyans and bringing them together and working together in all that we want the country to achieve so that we can have a better country."

The president promised to hold a meeting with all elected leaders from Taita Taveta so that they could agree on the country's development blueprint.

"Today I came because of the church service, I will come back again for development so that we can plan together,"  he said.

The President also stressed the need for politicians to respect the church and avoid making political statements while worshipping.

The President is on a four-day development tour of the Coast region and has already toured Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi Counties.
