Trade Cabinet Secretary nominee Salim Mvurya’s net worth grew by Sh38 million in the last two years, the Committee on Appointments has heard.

Speaking Saturday when he appeared for vetting, Mvurya said he is currently worth Sh158 million.

"When we last vetted you, what were you were worth?" posed Committee chair and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

While he did not provide further details about it, Mvurya responded that it was at Sh120 million attributing this to the value of a property he said he just completed.

Mvurya added that this is not inclusive of the mortgage benefits as stated in his wealth declaration.

Wetangula at the same time disclosed that the committee received 21 memoranda about him of which most of them were satisfactory.

Mvurya was the second nominee to appear before the panel.

He is among the five appearing on the third day of the vetting exercise.

He previously served as the CS for Mining and Blue Economy.
