Police are investigating the suspected murder of a farm manager in Nakuru.

The man is said to have been killed during an alleged confrontation with a group of people who had invaded a disputed piece of land in Menengai area.

The land is in Ngata area and has been at the centre of dispute for long, police said.

The manager had called the owner of the farm and informed him that about 20 people had invaded the farm on Tuesday at about 2 am and were demolishing structures therein.

The group had arrived aboard two vehicles while armed with crude weapons, police said.

The farm manager rallied the security and farm employees, leading to a confrontation that turned deadly.

Police officers responded to the scene and established that the piece of land in question had been subject to a longstanding dispute, with a pending court visit for fact-finding before a ruling.

During the altercation, the farm manager was hit on the head with a stone and rushed to Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The deceased's body was transferred to the Nakuru Municipal Annex mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police were looking for the group for questioning and possible prosecution with murder.

Police say they are concerned with rising cases of violent confrontations over land in Nakuru.

The trend is on the rise and officials blame land grabbers eyeing prime land in the area.

Most of the cases are pending under probe, police say.

Meanwhile, police in Runyenjes, Embu County are investigating the suspected murder of a man whose body was discovered in a coffee plantation.

The incident happened in Kyeni North West Location, police said.

The deceased identified as Kelvin Gitonga Kariuki, 25, had visible injuries on the left eye, left cheek, and right ribs.

Police are investigating if there is a primary scene of the incident.

The motive of the murder is however yet to be determined, police said as they vowed justice for the deceased.

The scene was processed, and the body was taken to Tenri Ena Hospital Morgue for an autopsy examination, police said.
