Man’s body found on bed after suspected murder in Kericho

Detectives are investigating a murder in an incident in which the body of a 61-year-old man was found on his bed in Kipkelion, Kericho.

The body of Maina Mwangi was discovered on his bed in his house in Nyairobi village, police said of Saturday incident.

Police said the body was found with no overt injuries but with blood oozing from the mouth and nose.

The body was moved to Londiani Subcounty hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.

Police said no arrest has been made so far but investigations are ongoing.

Elsewhere in Kahuro, Murang’a, one Martin Mwangi Kabura, 29 died after falling into a pit latrine.

The deceased slipped and fell into the latrine after he accidentally slipped, witnesses and colleagues said.

According to police and other workers, Kabura and the team were working together filling the pit latrine with debris after it had collapsed when he accidentally slipped and fell inside the pit latrine and was fatally hit by the debris.

The body was retrieved from the pit latrine by an excavator with the help of Muranga County government personnel.

The body with visible injuries was removed to Muriranjas sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

In Remo sub-location, Migori, a woman died after being struck by lightning.

Police said Jennifer Akeyo Omollo, 61, was removing dry grass that was kept under a tree while it was raining when she was struck by lightning.

The body was found lying under a tree.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy, police said of the Friday, August 16 incident.
