Detectives are investigating an incident in which a 27-year-old man was electrocuted in his house in Kamirithu, Kiambu.

Joseph Njuguna Mwaura, 27, had been missing since August 18 in the morning until August 20 when his body was discovered in his room.

Police said the body was found on the floor after he had been electrocuted.

He was alone then and the family did not imagine he would be in his room dead.

They had been looking for him elsewhere and after he failed to respond to his calls they thought he was out there.

It wasn't until Tuesday that they went to the house and found his body on the floor.

Police who visited the scene said there was a live electric wire hanging from an open switch.

The body had burns on the backside and left eye believed to be out of electrocution.

Kiambu police boss Michael Muchiri said the body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

“For now, the burns suggest the man was electrocuted but police are investigating it further,” he said.

Police revisited the scene Tuesday afternoon as part of the probe into the death.

Meanwhile, a woman was electrocuted as she prepared the pulpit for a church service in Dago, Kisumu.

The incident happened on Sunday, August 18 morning.

Police said the woman identified as Florence Akinyi Aoko, 29, is the wife of the church’s pastor.

The pastor told police the woman was preparing the church for service when he suddenly heard some unusual sound.

He rushed to check and found his wife lying on the floor with a microphone on her belly.

Police and Kenya Power officials were called to the scene and found the body with burn injuries on the belly.

The body was moved to Jaramogi Oginga Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and other investigations.

The incident affected planned church services as those in attendance were thrown into a mourning mood.
