Police probe murder after woman’s body found in Athi River roadside

The body did not have any visible physical injuries at the time of the discovery

Police are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a woman was found on the roadside in Athi River, Machakos county.

The body of Dolphine Nyamwamu, 30, was found in Tuffoam within Sabaki on Saturday, August 17. 

The body did not have any visible physical injuries at the time of the discovery and was moved to Shalom Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.

In Kiambaa, Kiambu County, the body of 38-year-old Mary Wanjiru was discovered outside a house in Niiku village on Monday, August 20. 

Police said they suspect Wanjiru was murdered. 

The body had injuries on the back, indicating that she might have been killed elsewhere and dragged to the scene where it was discovered. 

Wanjiru’s parents alleged she was last seen on August 16. 

The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations.

Meanwhile, in Kiirua, Meru, a 59-year-old man died by suicide.

The body of George Bundi was found hanging on a tree with a rope around his neck in Ibii village within Murinya sublocation.

No suicide note was found. 

The body, which had no physical injuries, was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem. 

In another suspected suicide, the body of a man was found hanging on the rafter of a roof in Kosele, Rachuonyo, Homa Bay county. 

Police said the body was hanging with a wire around the neck in Namba Saye village in Nyalenda sublocation.

No identification documents were found but a torn, washed out suicide note bidding the family goodbye was recovered in the victim’s trouser pocket.

A pair of sandals, the tablets and the suicide note were taken as exhibits for forensic examination.

The body was taken to Rachuonyo South subcounty hospital mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem.
