Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has apologised for the negative utterances he made during the 2022 electioneering period.

Junet said now that the country is united, there is a need for leaders from all political divides to forgive one another and forge ahead.

Speaking during the homecoming ceremony for Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, Junet said the statements he made were in retaliation after some Kenya Kwanza leaders attacked his party leader Raila Odinga.

President William Ruto was the chief guest during the event.

"Mimi vile mwenzangu hapa ameomba msamaha, nasema tusameheane (my friend here has sought for forgiveness but am saying let us forgive one another," he said.

"I said all sorts of things and your people also said very many things about my father (Raila). They said he is Mr riddles, he is a witch and that he runs at night and I also had to say other things in exchange, and we had to battle," he added.

Let us forgive each other from today here at Oparanya's home and we move ahead, he said.

According to the legislator, a key ally of Raila, the focus should now be on the development of the country and ensuring all regions get an equal cake.

He said they should join hands to fight the politics of exclusion of other communities or regions.

"This habit of locking others outside should now end. We'll not accept a situation where some few are in government with a bone in their mouths as others salivate outside," Junet said.

Junet also told the president that he is welcomed in Nyanza during his planned visit this week.

In his address, Ruto stressed on this urging leaders to embrace each other and work in peace.

He said by embracing forgiveness and peace, the country will move forward united.

"As leaders have said, forgiveness is important and it is a good thing. If there is somewhere we have disagreed through words, let us forgive each other because forgiveness is a good thing," Ruto said.

"We have to live and work together as a nation, we should all forgive each other to move the country forward and in unity."

Junet also told the president that he is welcome in Nyanza during his planned visit this week.
