Duale appoints ex-Isiolo governor chair of environmental complaints committee

Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Aden Duale has appointed Godana Doyo Adhi to be the chairperson of the National Environmental Complaints Committee.

Adhi was appointed for a period of three years with effect from August 30, 2024.

His appointment has seen Fancy Too's tenure at the position come to an end as Duale revoked her appointment.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 31(1)(a) of the Environmental Management and Coordination Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry appoints Godana Doyo Adhi to be the Chairperson of the National Environmental Complaints Committee." the notice reads.

The National Environmental Complaints Committee is the body charged with the task of investigating complaints or allegations regarding the condition of the environment in Kenya and on its own motion, any suspected cases of environmental degradation.

It was established under Section 31 to 36 of the Environmental Management and Coordination Act, 1999.

Adhi was the first governor of Isiolo County. He was defeated in his re-election bid by Mohammed Kuti.
