Man's body found in river after suspected murder in Makueni

Detectives are investigating a murder in an incident where the body of a man was discovered on the banks of a river in a village in Makueni.

A man who was watering his farm in Nthangu village said he sighted the body at the banks of river Kati and alerted local authorities.

Police who visited the site said the body had injuries in the back, ribs and right hand believed to have been inflicted by a blunt object.

Police said they are investigating a murder in the incident that was reported on September 4.

Police said the body was moved to Makueni County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem examination.

In Embali, Vihiga, the body of a man was found on the roadside after a suspected murder.

The body was discovered on September 3 in Esaba area, police said and identified the deceased as Enock Olando, 40.

In Athi River, Machakos, a 58-year-old man was on September 3 found dead in his house.

The man was identified as Emmanuel K. Makwere and was found unresponsive in his house at East African Portland cement village along Namanga road within the Athi-River location.

After scrutiny of the body, there were no visible physical injuries other than severe blood-stained vomit.

The body was moved to Montezuma mortuary Mbagathi awaiting autopsy.

Police say they are investigating the cases amid reports murder incidents are on the rise in the country.

Elsewhere in Meru, the body of a man was found in Kathita River within Meru town CBD.

Police said they visited the scene, where they found a decomposing body of an unknown man aged about 45.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

A team of detectives is investigating if the man drowned or was killed, police said.
