Former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru has said MPs plotting to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will be sent home in 2027.

Speaking during the burial of Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua on Thursday, Waruguru said MPs who are behind the ouster plan will not stand a chance come the next elections.

She said the DP fought hard to ensure Kenya Kwanza won the election, adding that voters will not let those humiliating him go scot-free.

“We want to tell those bringing impeachment motion; some of them are my sisters and they are looking for signatures to send Gachagua home. People are watching you very closely. Anyone who wants to fight his or her elder brother will be sent home early in the morning,” she said.

Waruguru vowed that she would not allow “selfish” people to come in between President William Ruto and his deputy.

Kajiado South MP Samuel Sakimba Parashina said leaders who want to impeach the DP are the same people who did not want Gachagua to be Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 elections.

“When Kenya Kwanza was being formed, there was a group of people who never wanted Gachagua to be Deputy President,” he said.

“We want to tell them that there is no strategy that they are developing that will succeed. They will not separate the DP from the people of Kenya.”

Parashina said the DP should be allowed to complete his full term.

“Any plan to undermine him will not work. We are waiting for them in Parliament with that motion.”
