Ruto meets Kenyan diaspora members in New York

President William Ruto met with members of the Kenyan Diaspora working at the United Nations (UN) during his visit to the Kenyan Permanent Mission in New York.

The meeting, which took place alongside the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), highlighted the government’s efforts to support Kenyans living and working abroad.

“The government is dedicated to implementing robust measures that support the Kenyan Diaspora,” he said.

He noted that his administration’s new Labour Mobility Programme aims to expand opportunities for Kenyans in foreign countries, helping them secure employment and thrive globally.

Ruto proudly acknowledged the significant number of Kenyans already making their mark at the UN.

“Proud to note that more than 1,800 Kenyans are working at the United Nations Headquarters in New York,” he said in a tweet.

The Labour Mobility Programme remains a cornerstone of his administration’s strategy to harness the potential of the Diaspora, enhancing Kenya’s presence and influence on the world stage while improving the welfare of Kenyans abroad.
