UDA youth have urged the Kenya Kwanza leadership to shun 2027 campaigns and concentrate on addressing challenges facing Kenyans.

The ruling party's national youth leader, Kariuki Ngunjiri, said leaders must first address the people's challenges before they seek political gain.

Ngunjiri said the youth are tribeless; and will not be driven to any kind of divisive and reckless politics.

“We will always affirm and align their loyalty to the President and his policy direction. We are only interested in the government offering solutions, not the divisive rhetoric on 2027 politics,” he said.

“As we speak, the housing project under the Boma Yangu plan and the digital and creative economy are some of the key items we are keen on, whether from the mountain or any corner of the country.”

Speaking to the Star, Ngunjiri added that the needs of young people should be given priority since there is the likelihood of the youth becoming the determinant factor in the 2027 elections.

“We will therefore be working together to win over youth from all other coalitions and parties and co-opt them into our team. We will not be part of any divisive rhetoric that will hamper our dreams,” he said.

He said the launch of the UDA Comrades Chapter is a clear indication of their commitment to addressing the youth's needs.

“I therefore wish to ask our youth to put any leaders who want to use them to task on what they have done about our fate,” he said.

The ruling party last week launched its Comrade Chapter; targeting students in higher learning institutions across the country.

The chapter is a platform where students can engage directly with the ruling party, aiming to have the voices of the young people heard and valued.

On September 16, President William Ruto told leaders to stop the focus on the 2027 election and spend time serving the people.

The President said it was unfair to engage Kenyans in campaigns three years ahead of the next General Election.

He asked leaders to spend their time offering services to the people and fulfilling the pledges they made to the electorate in 2022, adding that 2027 will be decided by the voters.
