Former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars football star Collins Okoth alias Gatusso will return to the High Court today to seek to be released from remand on bond in his murder case.

Gatusso was two weeks ago charged with murder alongside his co-accused Sylvia Aoko. They are accused of killing three-year-old Pamela Atieno alias Scovian Maya.

The offence was allegedly committed on the night of April 21, into the morning of April 22, at Kwetu Apartments in Sinai, Lucky Summer estate in Nairobi.

They both pleaded not guilty before Justice Esther Maina at the Milimani law court.

Gatusso's lawyer Geoffrey Omenke told the court he had made an application for the former star to be released on bond.

The application had been served to the state.

But state prosecutor Ms Gichuhi said they were opposed to releasing the accused persons on bond.

"We will be putting in an affidavit on the same. We also request that a pre-bail report be tabled in court before the matter on bond is canvassed," the prosecutor said.

Lawyer Kamau Waweru, representing Aoko, told the court he would be making his application for bond after the pre-bail report is tabled.

Justice Maina directed the parties to file and serve their affidavits within seven days, after which the matter will be mentioned before Justice Alexander Muteti on September 25, for bond hearing.

It is this bond hearing that is coming up before Justice Muteti today.

Elsewhere, the murder case against former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero will also be mentioned today for further directions.

The prosecution has finalised its case against the trio and the court is to decide whether the accused persons have a case to answer.
