Another 180 were wounded, the president said.

The preliminary report suggests two missiles hit an "educational institution" and a hospital, Zelensky added.

Unconfirmed reports say a military training centre was one of the buildings hit.

Ukraine's Ministry of Defence says people were hit while heading to bomb shelters, shortly after an air raid siren.

Three days of mourning have been declared in Poltava, regional leader Philip Pronin says.

As we've been reporting, it is not a frontline town, but is within range of long-range missiles.
