Butali Warriors are banking on a full-strength squad to bag maximum points against Sikh Union in the men's hockey Premier League match at the City Park Stadium on April 15.

The sugar millers are the defending champions having won last season's title with two matches to spare.

The Zachery Aura-coached side beat Greensharks 4-1 last weekend while Sikh lost 3-2 against Sailors in the five-goal thriller.

Butali team manager Victor Opere expects his charges to record another win but warned against complacency.

"We have a full-fit squad to work with. This gives us an advantage," Opere said.

He added: "We know Sikh is a good side even though the league returnees lost their first match. We will take them with the seriousness it deserves. We intend to defend the league title and have better representation at the African Cup for Club Championship."

In the women's category, Strathmore Scorpions have a date with Amira Sailors.

Scorpions, who won their maiden league title last season, will face their former player Gilly Okumu for the first time after the experienced forward left Strathmore last season following 12 years of service.

Okumu was instrumental in Scorpions' title glory and coach Meshack Senge said 'Strath' must overturn the disappointment of losing to Blazers to bounce back to winning ways.

"We don't have the luxury of experience but we always work within our structures. We have to look at Sailors' strengths and weaknesses and find a way to hurt them," Senge said.

"The match will be interesting. Okumu diligently played for us. She was one of our greatest ambassadors but will be on the opposite team. Sometimes the result does not necessarily show the complexion of the game and that was evident against Blazers. We seek to improve whether we win or lose," he added.
