Atlancis Technologies Limited boosted the Kenya women's team for the WRC Safari Rally with Sh 800,000 sponsorship ahead of the event slated for next week.

The four-day championship is set for June 22-25 in Naivasha and will be highlighted by the men's race as all eyes will be on Karan Patel.

Speaking during the presentation of the cheque at the company's office in Kilimani, Atlancis Chief Executive Officer Daniel Njuguna said: "We are proud to be associated with motorsport, especially with the women's team. We hope that these women will inspire others and be an example to our society".

Among the drivers confirmed for the inaugural race are the sensational Maxine Wahome and the experienced Pauline Sheghu. Jennifer Malik and Natasha Tundo will be making their debut.

Malik said she's looking forward to endearing herself to the Kenyan fans saying: "Preparations have been well. Being my first rally, I am super excited. I have talked to experienced drivers and they have really encouraged me. I feel I am ready to showcase my talent at the grandest stage."

Malik will be navigated by Kui Muigai while Linnet Ayuko will navigate Sheghu.

Ayuko, one of the most experienced navigators pointed out: "Supporting women in sports means a lot. It's been a while since we saw a women's rally team being supported by the government and corporates. This donation will go a long way in settling some of the expenses."

Commenting on Tundo, 18, the youngest driver in the 2023  championship, Ayuko said: "She was a baby in 2012 and was our biggest cheerleader and it's nice to see her create her own history. Malik is good on the streets, it's time for her to prove a point "

She added: "I am comfortable as a navigator. Maybe I will switch later but not now".
