The Kenya Volleyball Federation acting president Charles Nyaberi has said Malkia Strikers enjoy playing Cameroon at their backyard than at an away venue.

Nyaberi made the remarks during the launch of Sh15 million sponsorship of the team by Mozzart Kenya Limited on Wednesday in Nairobi.

The national women's team is set to play in the Challenger Cup in France and the Africa Nations Championships in Cameroon.

Malkia beat their perennial rivals during the Tokyo Olympic qualifiers at their backyard to book the sole slot reserved for the continent.

That achievement also granted the Kenya Queens the opportunity to play at the World Championships last year.

"Kenya perform better when they play Cameroon at their home ground. We have nothing to fear against them. It's only good that they are the host for this year's edition of the championship, hopefully, we will again silence them," Nyaberi said.

Malkia have lost the past three editions of the ANC (2017, 2019, 2021) to Cameroon.

Kenya will hope to accumulate as many points as possible in the Challenger Cup and win the ANC to bag a direct ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

"There are no elimination matches to qualify for Olympics in Paris. We just have to garner points in the Challenger Cup and win the ANC competition," Nyaberi added.
