The team was nominated following their good performances at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, last year.

The grant is meant to help the team navigate through the qualifying process for Paris 2024.

The African Olympic qualifiers are set for October 29 to November 5 at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Kenya will compete against Namibia, Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda and Zimbabwe for the sole slot reserved for the continent.

In addition to the grant, Nock secretary general Francis Mutuku said they will offer technical support to the team including the provision of nutritionists, sports psychologists, mental coaches, food, transport and player allowances as well as training equipment for the team.
