GUNS READY

We are all set for KWPL kick off, says Soccer Assassins' Ceo Muleri

The WPL starts on October 7 and Muleri believes their transfer business has put them in good stead as they seek to battle for the elusive title.

In Summary

• “We have made a number of signings to beef up our squad in defence, midfield and striking. We went for experience,” Muleri said.

Meanwhile, Bungoma Queens head coach Robert Majio said they are keen on assembling a formidable side for the new season.

Madira Soccer Assassins are well-oiled for the Women's Premier League kick-off, the club's chief executive officer Nickson Muleri has said.

The WPL starts on October 7 and Muleri believes their transfer business has put them in good stead as they seek to battle for the elusive title.

“We have made a number of signings to beef up our squad in defence, midfield and striking. We went for experience,” Muleri said.

He observed that they look like a complete team but they will not be overconfident, choosing to take one match at a time.

Assassins will start their campaign with a clash against Kenya Police Bullets at Police Sacco Stadium in Nairobi. They will then play their first home game a week later when they host Gatundu-based Gaspo Ladies at Mumboha grounds.

Another tough match is on the cards, this time against Trans Nzoia Falcons at Ndura Sports Complex in Kitale.

Meanwhile, Bungoma Queens head coach Robert Majio said they are keen on assembling a formidable side for the new season.

“We have so far recruited six players to cover up some gaps we had in our camp. We are also focusing on creating depth,” Majio said.

Bungoma Queens will host Kibera Soccer Women at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma in their league opener. They then travel to Nairobi to face Police Bullets at Police Sacco Stadium with their third encounter scheduled for Stime Club against Gaspo Ladies.

The KWPL was to start on September 24 but was pushed due to scheduled international matches, where Kenya's Harambee Starlets face Cameroon in a two-legged Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on September 22 and 26.
