Strathmore University Blades will tackle Umoja in a Kenya National Basketball League clash at Nyayo Stadium gymnasium on Friday evening.

The students, who got their 2023 campaign on the wrong footing, have been training to make amends after a 53-40 loss to Ulinzi last weekend.

They will rely upon Daniel Bol, Jack Waweru, and Jason Nwodo's efforts to lift them.

Umoja boosted their confidence when they sent a stern warning by stunning Equity Bank Dumas 65-62. Douglas Kitavi, Clinton Oondi and Gilbert Abiero, who played their hearts out against the bankers, will once again be key.

But they became a cropper the following day when they were brought down to earth by Nairobi City Thunder, who thrashed them 74-49. They will have to show their true colours.

The other game of the afternoon will see Job Munene’s Zetech University Titans, who were relegated from the top tier, play Neosasa in the opening match of the afternoon at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Zetech University Sparks play Kenyatta University “Oryx”.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) “Lynx" play TH3 Swish, who went down 62-46 to Storms.

Thunder remain the team that everyone wants to watch following their mass recruitment. They have already shown class by winning their three opening matches. They play Absa while Blades return to confront Kenyatta University's “Pirates”.

On Sunday, two-time women champions Equity Bank Hawks, who reaped maximum points from two games — beating Storms 64-48 and United States International University (USIU) “Flames” —  take on Jkuat.

They will bank on the exploits of Maryann Nyagaki, Melissa Akinyi, Rachael Akinyi and Ivy Opicho as they are going all out to regain their glory after finishing third last season.

Africa Nazarene University “Panthers” lock horns with Strathmore University Swords as USIU “Tigers’ play Blades before Umoja wind up the week with a match against Absa.
