The University of Eldoret women's head coach Josephat Pilishi has set his eyes on the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) finals in Nairobi next month.

Pilishi will start his journey to the national finals at this weekend’s Rift Valley Conference at Egerton University in Nakuru county.

He is confident of defending his Rift Valley title, especially after the entry of talented first-year students.

“I have managed to get 10 new players, who joined the university this year. They are very good. It is like a new team but I will mix with second years who have proved to be great players,” said Pilishi.

The two-day tournament is set for Saturday to Sunday featuring football and volleyball — men and women.

Pilishi said they have prepared well for the event, which features all universities based in the larger Rift Valley.

“First, I want to defend my title, which I am sure of. Then focus on how I will play at the national finals. Among the institutions expected are UoE, Moi Main, Moi Annex, Kenyatta University Nakuru Campus, Koitaeeel Samoei, Laikipia, Masai Mara, and hosts Egerton,” said Pilishi.

“We have had many build-up matches in which the players have performed well. I hope the same spirit will spill into the main championships since the conference is very competitive,” he said.
