Kenya Police coach Patrick Mugambi remains optimistic about getting a positive result against Sailors when the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Premier League action resumes this weekend.

However, Mugambi is wary of his players’ fitness after just days of preparations for the encounter to be played at the City Park Stadium on Saturday.

“We have trained for just a week. I have tried to sharpen the forwards and I hope it will do us more good going forward,” he said, adding that he will miss two key players.

“Kennedy Sibweche and Victor Wekesa are suspended but we have some players to step in.”

Western Jaguars are third with 25 points from 11 games while USIU are fourth with 20 points from 14 matches.

Meanwhile, Strathmore University have a date with Sikh Union at Dashmesh Stadium while KU face Nakuru.

Kirinyaga Knights encounter Gorillas, UoN clash with Karate Axiom and  Parkroad Tigers confront Black Tigers.

Blazers lead the pack with 30 points from 11 matches. Strathmore University women follow with 18 points, while Lakers and USIU Africa both have 17 points in eight and 10 matches, respectively.

The women’s league will see a university derby between Strathmore and Kenyatta Univesity while Black Tigress face Pirates.
