Six more schools will feature in the Inter-County swimming Championships slated for  February 3-4 at St Christopher's school in Nanyuki

The six will be sponsored by the Private and International Preparatory Schools Sports Association (PIPSSA).

The schools are Nyeri High, Nanyuki High, Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls, Karatina Girls, Nyandarua High, and Moi Complex Primary School in Nyeri Town.

The initiative, according to organizers, seeks to promote swimming in public schools and align with the emphasis on the sport in the newly established CBC curriculum.

Organising secretary, Damaris Muthoni said the move has garnered widespread support from all stakeholders who have commended PIPSSA for its efforts in extending the sport to public schools.

"We know public schools are facing tough times and paying entry fees for events like these is costly. We have opted for a waiver to compete in the championship and we are also urging other schools from the region to enter the event,” she added.

Preparations for the event are ongoing and the organisers have promised to be ready by early next week.

“ We expect a big turnout and by next week, the teams will be confirmed," she noted.
