Kibera Ladies striker Nancy Atako has vowed to fight for the Women's Premier League golden boot this season.

Atako has nine goals as she seeks to dethrone last year's top scorer, Irin Madalin of Bunyore Starlets, who had 17 goals.

Tumaini Waliaula of Vihiga Queens has eight goals while Rebecca Okwaro (Kenya Police Bullets) and Laura Atsabina (Wadadia) have seven goals each.

Catherine Khaemba (Bungoma Queens), Charity Midewa (Soccer Assassin), Purity Alukwe (Kenya Police Bullets) and Siliya Rasoha (Ulinzi Starlets) have six goals each.

Speaking on the phone, Atako said: “It's about competition and I am here to compete equally with my colleagues from other teams. My prayer is that I remain injury-free."

“My teammates have also been very supportive to ensure I have the balls. I pray that they continue supporting me to win that boot. It won’t be for me only but for the team,” she added.

Midewa insisted she is also in the race to dethrone Madalin.

“The top scorer is just three goals better. I will do my best to be ahead at the end of the season,” she said.
