Kenya Police captain Titus Kimutai targets a podium finish in the Kenya Hockey Union Premier League.

Police are third in the standings with 30 points from 17 matches and conclude the season with a clash against seventh-placed Sikh Union on Saturday.

Butali Warriors are top of the table with 42 points from 16 matches, two ahead of Western Jaguars — who have played a game more.

Kimutai said: "I am expecting a good outing against Sikh. My main objective is to finish third."

Police fell 3-1 against Western Jaguars last weekend encounter and 5-3 to USIU 'A' the previous weekend, results which nearly ruined their podium ambitions.

"We used to head into matches with confidence, knowing we would be number one. However, things are different now, thus our quest for third place," he added.

"We must take the lessons we learned from the previous losses and make them our strengths. We can't afford to make the same mistakes. We must improve."

Police have had a dogged campaign including fluctuation of form in our players.

"Some players have been on and off with most having duties to report to but we expect a shift when they get back," said the captain, adding:  "Most teams in the league have improved their game management and structure."

"We want to improve as a team. We will polish every department and tighten our laces in goalkeeping, defence and attack."

"The Sikh match is a must-win for us. It would look so bad on us if we lost. I guarantee that things will be different," Kimutai emphasised.

Blazers lead the women's Premier League standings with 31 points from 12 matches. Lakers follow with 25 points from 12 matches while USIU are third with 24 points from 14 matches.
