Safari Rally women crews get major boost from Vivo Energy

The two crews will receive fuel for the recce and the entire WRC event from Vivo Energy for the four days.

Two all-women rally crews celebrated International Women's Day in style as they received a major boost from Vivo Energy Kenya ahead of the Safari Rally slated for March 28-31.

Pauline Sheghu and her navigator Linet Ayuko alongside the dynamic mother-daughter duo of Tinashe Gatimu and Caroline Gatimu were the beneficiaries of the Vivo Energy Kenya sponsorship. 

The two crews will receive fuel for the recce and the entire WRC event from Vivo Energy for the four days. 

 Sheghu thanked Vivo Energy Kenya for the support and further outlined their intention to reciprocate with good results. 

“I am grateful to Vivo Energy for their support in this year’s event and we are going to leave nothing to chance in pursuit of good results,” she said.

Tinashe Gatimu, who boasts an impressive track record from the previous year, said she will capitalise on the opportunity to post good results. 

 Vivo Energy Group's vice president of marketing, Ann Gitao, emphasized the company's unwavering support for sports talent in Kenya, particularly women and youth.

“We have immensely invested in sports talent nationwide for the last decade. This year, we will tap into the motorsport talent of the country’s lady drivers and youth. We want to see them compete at top-tier events and motivate the girls to follow their dreams,” said Gitao.

She further reiterated the company's vision of seeing talented individuals excel at the highest levels of competition.

“We also support Neel Gohil and Fahim Abdul, who have actively participated and continue to leave their mark on KNRC.”

Vivo Energy Kenya managing director,  Peter Murungi lauded the initiative, highlighting how it perfectly aligns with the company's mission of delivering long-term value to diverse stakeholders.

“Motorsport in Kenya is vibrant; I wish the crews the best of luck as they aim to cement their legacy in this year’s World Rally Championship event,” said Murungi.
