Kisii School land tough draw in Nyanza region 15s

Champions Kisii School will battle Agoro Sare Nyabondo and newbies Anjego Mixed in Pool ‘A’ of the Nyanza Region Secondary Schools Sports Association Term Two Games at Kisumu School. 

The competition runs from Wednesday through Saturday.

St Mary’s Yala, Maseno School, Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho, and St Paul’s Gekano face off in Pool 'B'.

Kisii School coach Hesborn Chweya said: “It’s a fairly good draw. We will not underrate any team. It will be a tough competition but I’m confident we will retain our title.”

Anjego Mixed principal and coach J.J Masime said: “We are debutants and shall give our best in each game. We should not be underrated. We are going to Kisumu as Migori County champions.”

The championship received a major boost after Nyanza Sports Vibez through founder and managing director, Joshua Orina, offered to sponsor the games.

Favourites and former champions Agoro Sare start their quest to reclaim their title in Pool ‘B’ alongside Sawagongo, Maseno School and Nyanchwa Boys.

Asumbi Girls, Nyakach Girls, Mokomoni and Tuk Jowi will collide in Pool ‘A’ of the girls' competition.

Pool ‘B’ has favourites Ng'iya Girls, champions Ototo Mixed and St Barnabas from Kisumu County.

Kisumu Day begin a campaign to reclaim the boys’ hockey title in Pool ‘A’ against Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho and Ringa Boys.

Last year’s finalists Nduru Boys are in Pool ‘B’ alongside Kanga High School, Sawagongo and Ngere.

Champions Maseno School were eliminated during the Kisumu County championships.

In the girls’ category, East Africa champions Nyamira Girls have an easy draw against Kisumu Girls and Andingo. Last year’s finalists Ageng’a Kisii’s Amaiko Mixed Rae Girls and Ng'iya Girls will face off in Pool ‘B’.

Hockey will be held at Kisumu Day and Kisumu Boys while basketball will be staged at Kisumu Girls and Kisumu School. Rugby will be held at Kisumu Polytechnic and athletics at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
