Champions National Cereals and Produce Board face General Service Unit in a tough Kenya Handball League clash on Saturday at Nyayo Stadium.

The millers, still unbeaten, know the threat posed by the paramilitary side. Any slip-up will see the pendulum swing towards leaders Ulinzi.

Their other weekend match, on Sunday, is against Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKuat), who are 16th on the log with 10 wins.

“The team is well prepared. We have no injuries and look forward to an entertaining match,” said NCPB coach Bryan Mathews.

“The women's team is also ready with no injuries to report.”

The soldiers, who meet Equity Bank in one of the day’s biggest encounters, top the table with 43 points. NCPB are second with 41, same as third-placed Equity while GSU are fourth with 40.

The race is between the unbeaten Ulinzi and NCPB sides. Ulinzi coach Nickson Oyaro noted: “We have prepared well and are ready for the matches. They are both tough teams and, hopefully, it’s going to be positive.”

Equity Bank and GSU can still upset the form book.  The Bankers coach, Peter Mwathi, is going for a win in what he expects to be a fierce fight.

“We are ready for this match. We will change a few things in our attacking and defensive approach,” he observed.

“Ulinzi have strong backcourt players and we must take care of them by denying the easy play.”

“They move as a block on their defence. Creating numerical superiority on attack and isolation of certain positions would be good for us.”

Daystar University play Nanyuki and Buccaneers in the men’s category while their women’s side tackles third-placed NCPB and Mountain Queens.

The varsity side’s tactician, Martin Kamau, said they have worked extra hard in training this week and are confident of a good weekend.

“The boys have to go hard this weekend. We have prepared for that. We want to win the two remaining games,” said Kamau.
