Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba is convinced Team Kenya will flourish at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic games.

Speaking during a ceremony to unveil Team Kenya kit at Talanta Plaza on Thursday, the CS urged the Kenyan contingent to make the nation proud in the French capital.

"The accomplishments of local athletes within the year augur well for the nation on the international stage and I believe there is a lot more to come in the coming months," Namwamba remarked.

He lavished Kenyan sports enthusiasts for rallying behind local athletes. He reiterated the government's commitment to empowering local designers through the novel Talanta Hela initiative.

“Through Talanta Hela, we aim to leverage the sports apparel value chain. As a sports nation, why not have one of the best commercialised sports apparel brands? This kit has opened our minds and doors to the vast potential within the sports industry,” Namwamba remarked.

“It has been a privilege as your Cabinet Secretary to witness this process being conducted with accountability and transparency," he added.

Namwamba said the nation is bound to achieve a lot through a multi-industry approach which seeks to bring together a wide array of talents.

"Involving Kenyans in sending our Olympians to the Paris Olympics has showcased the symbiotic relationship between creative arts and sports," he added.

National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) president Paul Tergat urged Team Kenya to make the nation proud.

Tergat thanked the Ministry of Sports for launching the Talanta Hela, saying it had created employment avenues for many Kenyans.

"Designs by these amazing young people will be such a huge source of pride and patriotism. The winners were selected through a competitive process."
