Kenya will be seeking to win a Gold medal in the race for the first time since the 2008 Beijing Olympics which was won by Asbel Kiprop.

However, they face strong competition from Great Britain's Josh Kerr as well as Norwegian Jacob Ingebrightsen.

The next final will be the women's 3000m steeplechase final with Kenya banking on Beatrice Chepkoech and Faith Cherotich to secure victory.

This final will be at 10.14 pm. Kenya has so far won three medals at the Olympics.

This is after Beatrice Chebet bagged gold in the 5000m race even as Kipyegon won silver.

Kenya's Mary Moraa won Bronze in the 800m race.
