Speaking to Xinhua online on Thursday, Kadondi described the move as a dream come true.

“I have always wanted to play at international level because I believe in my qualities as a player. I promise to work really hard to help my team perform well and win trophies,” she added.

The goal defender, who can also play as a goalkeeper, transferred from Uganda’s Weyonje Netball Club to Nottingham Forest Netball Club. She has also been part of the KCCA Leopards in Uganda’s National Basketball League.

Fred Mugerwa, head coach of Uganda’s national team, told Xinhua that Kadondi’s signing with an English team is great news not only for her but for Uganda as a country.

“I am delighted that Kadondi has been signed by Nottingham Forest Netball Club and I am confident that she has what it takes to perform at the top level. But this also opens more doors for our Ugandan players to be spotted,” Mugerwa added.

Kadondi was part of the Uganda She Cranes team that finished fifth at the Netball World Cup 2023 held in Cape Town, South Africa. She was also named Player of the Match when Uganda faced Australia in the 2022 Fast5 World Series.

Other Ugandan players competing at the professional level include Peace Proscovia Nwokocha, Stella Oyella (both in England), and Mary Nuba (Australia).
