Osino praises Kisumu Queens after 'perfect execution'

Kisumu Queens coach Joseph Osino praised his team’s execution in a 5-0 win over Mwiki at USIU-A grounds on Sunday.   

"Our game was good. We managed the scores by sticking to our game plan and improving on the basics," said Osino.

Kisumu Queens opened the floodgates in the first quarter and had a 3-0 advantage at halftime.

"We were patient, learned our opponents and built on the game slowly since they are new entrants. We were clinical. We aim to finish in the top three this season," added Osino.

They will face Twinkle Club next weekend.

Meanwhile, Western Jaguars coach Mike Malungu celebrated his side’s 5-0 victory over the University of Eldoret, their third straight win on the road.

"We’re looking to keep up with league leaders Kenya Police. We last played more than a month ago due to the league system, but the youngsters are getting used to the system," Malungu said.

He highlighted the impact of Hillary Anailwa, MVP at the East Africa School Games in Uganda and other prospects like Brian Anzanze, Newton Mwangaza, Alex Kigali and Martin Kasanda.

"We’ll continue training hard since we have six games left. We need to stay in shape," he added.

Western Jaguars are third with six points from two matches.

Kenya Police lead the standings with 10 points from four matches while USIU-A follow with nine points from four matches.

Kenyatta University were held to a 1-1 draw by Parklands Sports Club in a Senior Men's league match at USIU-A, while Technical University and Black Tigers battled to a 2-2 stalemate in the National Men's league.

Bay Club claimed a 3-1 victory over Kisii University, while Kisumu Youngstars edged out Park Road Badgers 1-0 in Kisumu in the Senior League men’s competition.

Elsewhere, Park Road Tigers played out a goalless draw in the National Men's league as USIU Ladies settled for a 0-0 result against Lakers in a Premier League clash.

On Saturday, the University of Eldoret lost 3-1 to USIU Men in Eldoret.

In the Senior Women's league, Jomo Kenyatta University and Kisumu Queens fought to a 0-0 draw, while Wazalendo fell 3-1 to Sailors.

Oyugis Hockey Club lost 2-1 to Kisii University.
