Yego bows out of the race, focuses on next season

In an interview, Yego said the competition was good despite his performance not being very pleasing.

The 2015 world javelin champion Julius Yego's bid to reclaim the title ended at the qualification stage after covering a distance of 78.42m at the ongoing World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

India dominated the list of qualifiers to the final after Neeraj Chopra led with a season-best throw of 88.77. Germany's Julian Weber occupied the second slot as another, Indian DP Manu, placed fourth. 

In an interview, Yego said the competition was good despite his performance not being very pleasing. He said he accepts the results and will build upon his performance going forward.

"I didn't make the final cut but I will focus on the next phase. I will talk to my manager to advise me on what next," he noted.

"My manager will decide if there is something to be done or if I have to focus on the next season. I am good with either."

He said his fans may be disappointed with his performance but he is happy with it.

"I feel fit and I guess I can build up on this performance ahead of next season," he noted.
