Kenya finish ninth at Budapest show as Moraa wins final gold

Beatrice Chepkoech added silver in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase and Faith Cherotich won bronze.

Kenya finished fifth with three gold, three silver, and four bronze as the World Athletics Championships ended in Budapest, Hungary on Sunday.

Mary Moraa handed Kenya the final gold medal in the 800m to make it three after Faith Kipyegon had won two gold medals early on.

She beat Keely Hodgkinson to a silver medal with Athing Mu of the United States settling for bronze in the two-lap race.

Moraa posted her personal best of 1:56.03  during the race with Hodgkinson being timed at 1:56.34. Mu clocked her season best of  1:56.61 to complete the podium.

Beatrice Chepkoech added silver in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase and Faith Cherotich won bronze. 

Chepkoech trailed Kenyan-turned-Bahraini, Winfred Yavi after clocking 8:58.98. Yavi posted a world lead of 8:54.29 with Cherotich returning a personal best time of 9:00.69. Jackline Chepkoech clocked 9:14.72 for ninth position.

Earlier on, Jocob Krop fought to a credible third position in the men's 5,000m in 13:12.28 with Jakob Ingebrigtsen (13:11.30) running away with gold and Mohamed Katir (13:11.44) taking silver.
