Sang' won the T11 1,500m race in 4:03.8 ahead of Evans Rutto’s 4:08.5.

He said: “My target is to win a medal but gold will be good for me and my nation. I have three weeks to sharpen my skills.  I want to improve on my speed."

Chelagat, a Paralympics 1500m T11 bronze medallist, hopes to upgrade his third-place finish from the 2020 Tokyo Games.

“I have improved on my training, especially on endurance. I am aiming for gold,” she said.

She qualified for Paris after winning the Eldoret trials in 5:02.0, followed by Mary Waithera (5:05.4) and Priscah Jepkemei’s 5:10.9.

“ I could not perform well in Tokyo due to the hot weather and lack of endurance. I hope the weather will be conducive in Paris,” she said.

“I am going to work hard in training as I target a good outing in Paris,” said Lokedi.
