• Susan Ejore placed third in heat 1 clocking 3:59.01 behind Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay (3:58.84) and Britain’s Laura Muir (3:58.91).

• Elsewhere, Chepchirchir won heat 3 with a time of 4:02.67 leading Australia’s Jessica Hull (4:02.70) and USA’s Elle Purrier (4:03.22).

World 1,500m and Mile record holder, Faith Kipyegon, Susan Ejore and Nelly Chepchirchir all punched tickets to the 1,500m semi-finals slated for Thursday.

Kipyegon placed fourth in her heat in a time of 4:00.74,  trailing Diribe Welteji of Ethiopia (3:59.73), Briton Georgia Bell (4:00.29) and Nikki Hiltz of USA (4:00.42).

Susan Ejore placed third in Heat 1,  clocking 3:59.01 behind Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay (3:58.84) and Britain’s Laura Muir (3:58.91).

Elsewhere, Chepchirchir won Heat 3 with a time of 4:02.67.  Australia’s Jessica Hull (4:02.70) and USA’s Elle Purrier (4:03.22) finished second and third respectively.

The top six from every heat sailed to the semis with the rest having to take part in the repechage round set for Wednesday.
