Tusker FC interim coach Charles Okere is confident the 11 new signings will be instrumental in their quest to secure a 13th FKF Premier League title.

The Brewers trailed all-time league champions Gor Mahia in the 2023/24 season—placing second with 65 points— nine points behind Gor.

Speaking during the unveiling at Ruaraka Grounds, Okere expressed optimism of reclaiming the coveted trophy.

“We aim to hit the ground running when the league kicks off and reclaim the premier league title and the other trophies,” said Okere.

He also emphasised the importance of their pre-season tour of Uganda, which he believes has laid a strong foundation for the 2024/25 campaign.

“The pre-season tour of Uganda tour has been invaluable in helping us build team cohesion and test different formations,” he added.

The blend of seasoned professionals and emerging talents will be key in overcoming the league’s all-time leader, K’Ogalo, according to Okere.

“I’m excited about the new look team. The blend of experienced players and promising young talents is impressive, and we are happy with our squad,” he noted.

Among the recruits is 24-year-old defender Alex Onchwari, whose journey has taken him from Ololulung’a FC to stints at Zoo Kericho, Somalia’s Horsed FC and Muhoroni Youth.

He’s joined by Dennis Wanjala, a 25-year-old left-back with previous tenures at Nzoia Sugar and City Stars.

The midfield has been bolstered by the versatile Yussuf ainge, a 24-year-old who has sharpened his skills at Slovakia’s FC Pohronie and several local powerhouses, including AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia and Kenya Police FC.

Adding youthful exuberance to the midfield is 19-year-old Ryan Ogam, who has already shown promise at Sunrise FC and Rainbow FC.

Teddy Dok Onyango has also been promoted to the senior squad from the youth ranks.

Up front, Tusker has assembled a potent attacking lineup with the addition of 32-year-old Boban Zirintusa, a journeyman forward who has played for clubs across Africa, including Polokwane City, Ethiopia Coffee, and Mtibwa Sugar.

He’ll be joined by the promising 20-year-old Jacob Onyango, who has shown flashes of brilliance at Sofapaka.

Other notable signings include Eric Balecho, Thomas Omole and 27-year-old shot-stopper Joseph Ochuka.
