Uncapped quartet named in Morans squad for Fiba AfroCan

The quartet includes United States International University’s Ariel Ortega, KPA duo of Eugene Adera and Brian Shivachi as well as Tanzania-based Bramwell Muchina.

• US-based Derrick Ogechi, who was a member of the 2021 AfroBasket squad but didn’t play has also been included in the side. The team will be captained by Equity Bank Dumas playmaker Victor Bosire.

• APR’s Cliff Owuor is the head coach and will be assisted by Ancette Wafula of Ulinzi Snipers.

Four players will make their debut for Kenya Morans at the 2023 Fiba AfroCan Championships that throws off on Saturday in Luanda, Angola.

Kenya Basketball Federation head of delegation Moses Wanjara, while releasing the final squad, said the contingent departs Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Thursday.

The quartet includes United States International University’s Ariel Ortega, Kenya Ports Authority duo of Eugene Adera and Brian Shivachi as well as Tanzania-based Bramwell Muchina.

US-based Derrick Ogechi, who was a member of the 2021 AfroBasket squad but didn’t play has also been included in the side. The team will be captained by Equity Bank Dumas playmaker Victor Bosire.

Kenya directly qualified for the tournament as runners-up at the inaugural show in Bamako, Mali in 2019. Morans lost to Democratic Republic of Congo in the final.
