Benfica have 'welcomed home' Argentina forward Angel Di Maria after he re-joined the club for a second spell.

The 35-year-old has enjoyed a trophy-laden career in the five clubs he has played for including in Spain, England, France and Italy.

The speedy winger began his European adventure, leaving Rosario in his native Argentina for Benfica.

Di Maria played for three seasons at Benfica before sealing a dream move to Real Madrid.

Di Maria made 124 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 22 goals before heading to England to join Manchester United.

The attacking midfielder had a disappointing spell at United. He found the back of the net four times in 27 starts.

His seven years in Paris yielded 56 goals from 197 appearances and was catalytic to PSG's dominance in Ligue 1.

He played for Italian giants Juventus last season.

"Welcome home, Di Maria," said the club in a video announcing his move, which is reportedly a one-year deal.

Di Maria won the Portuguese league and cup double in his last season with Benfica before moving to Real Madrid.
