Multi-Media University (MMU) and Don Bosco romped into the Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) Play-off semi-finals after winning their matches over at the Strathmore University Sports Complex on Sunday.

MMU, who are the Eastern Conference champions, tossed out Vikings 60-50 (2-0) as Wycliffe Young scored 20 points and Jeremiah Halwenge added 13 for the winners. The losers had 20 from Bernard Machot.

Don Bosco tossed Western Conference champions Kivuli out of the postseason games with a similar 2-0 margin, winning 54-52. They had 11 points from Emmanuel Kelechi with John Osoro posting 10 for the losers.

Zetech University beat Sunrise 79-71 to force the decisive third game. Brian Ochieng managed 21 points and Vitalis Akisa added 13. Sunrise's top scorer was Lucas Orimba who shot 25, James Ayugi 16, and Joel Atebe 14.

Daystar University also forced a 1-1 tie after they dismissed Old Pirates 90-71. Isaac Omondi scored 24 points to lead the team coached by his father and ex-Kenya national team player Peter ‘Lulu’ Otieno.

The other scorers for the varsity side were Giovani Ekada, who scored 20 and Claron Machot 20. Pirates had 24 from James Mureithi and 19 from Daniel Mwita.

The deciding Game Three of the two quarter-finals will be played Saturday before the semi-finals take centre stage the following day, according to Caleb Osewe. The women’s semis will pit Dream Girls against Gladiators while Titans will meet National Youth Service (NYS) in the other match.

Dream Girls locked out Reapers 53-33, Gladiators won 52-38 over Raila Educational Center (Rec), National Youth Service stunned Medi Plus Magic 56-58 while Titans rocked Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) 76-31.
