Tusker FC head gaffer Robert Matano is breathing a sigh of relief following the side’s significant victory against Kenyan Premier League rivals Sofapaka at Ruaraka Grounds on Sunday.

Matano had vowed to turn around the club’s dwindling fortunes even as a clamour for his resignation hit a crescendo, especially after their defeat at the hands of Gor Mahia a fortnight ago.

The outcome took the Ruaraka-based Brewers to eighth on the log with 11 points, eight adrift of leaders Posta Rangers.

Meanwhile,  AFC Leopards fans are ecstatic as they celebrate the side’s first success narrative of the season, a 1-0 victory over Nzoia Sugar in Bungoma on Sunday.

The result, albeit a tight one, ended the felines’ heartbreaking win-less streak in the season before they wrung a sweet triumph from the sugar millers at Sudi Stadium.

The victory propelled them to 15th on the log, salvaging them from the jaws of relegation after seven consecutive weeks in the red zone.

But the recently hired head tactician Thomas Trucha will need to win their upcoming league encounter to placate the club’s huge fan base that raised a ruckus after he succumbed 1-0 to Bandari in his first league outing a fortnight ago.

Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau has warned his charges against allowing success to get into their heads after a plain sailing season that leaves them rooted at the apex of the log.

While lavishing inundating praises on them, Kamau reiterated the need to keep the winning mentality intact even as competition gains momentum.

The experienced gaffer made the remarks after guiding the Nairobi-based mailmen to a resounding 2-0 win over coastal lads Bandari FC at Kasarani Annex on Sunday.

“We’ve done well in the league thus far and my players deserve a pat on the back for their marvelous performance. We must, nonetheless, remain cautious about the intense competition posed by our rivals,” Kamau stated.

Embattled coach Sammy Okoth will want to forget the predicament he suffered over the weekend following a humiliating 4-0 loss to Ulinzi Stars which informed his immediate resignation thereafter.

The enraged Tore Bobe fans walked out on him and the team before the full-time whistle in an unprecedented expression of dismay over the team’s torrid run thus far.

“I think it’s high time I allowed somebody else to lead the team. This is my biggest loss since I started coaching. Nevertheless, I’m leaving the position a proud man because the fans are aware of my vast contribution to the club,” Okoth remarked.

Okoth became the fifth coach to get fired over poor results on the top-flight stage.

Elsewhere, KCB head coach Bernard Mwalala urged the bankers to step on the gas peddle and sustain the momentum they exhibited in their huge win against Nairobi City Stars on Sunday.

Mwalala was over the moon after his exuberant charges displayed pure class to wallop Nairobi City Stars 4-1 at Kasarani Annex in a Round Eight fixture.

“The performance is a clear testimony of the hard work we’ve put in this season and I believe we have begun getting things right,” Mwalala remarked.

“Hopefully, we shall maintain this kind of performance in our subsequent games. It’s still too early to start talking about title contention but like anyone else that’s what we want to achieve,” he stated.

The outcome fired KCB to third on the log with 15 points, four adrift of leaders Posta Rangers and only one short of second-placed Gor Mahia.

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya has extolled his charges for asserting themselves in their league match against Kakamega Homeboyz.

Sharks shook off a lackadaisical performance in their one-all draw against Muhoroni Youth to stun Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 at Kasarani Annex on Sunday.

“We dropped two points in our last match against Muhoroni Youth and I’m happy we played well and managed to secure maximum points against Homeboyz,” Muluya said.
