National women's champion Kenya Ports Authority continued their preparations for the Africa Women Basketball League (AWBL) with a convincing win in the Kenya National Basketball League.

The ports women, who are also regional queens, blanked Swish TH3 86-42 as they put the finishing touches to the show that starts in Alexandria, Egypt on December 11.

They had a strong  37-15 at the breather with new signing Valery Kemunto showing her true colours as she led all scorers with 23 points. Becky Nkatha also had a string outing scoring 12 points for the unbeaten champions.

At the United States International University (USIU) courts in Nairobi, it was a perfect weekend for host Tigers as they pipped Umoja 41-40 for their second win in two days.

George Mayienga's charges had the previous day stunned former champions Ulinzi Warriors 62-55 in a tough game at the Lang’ata Sports Complex.

Tigers were led by Vitumbiko Mponela with 18 points, Patrick Oduor shot 16 and Anthony Eric added 11. Stephen Simiyu led Ulinzi with 18, John Washika hit 11 in that loss. The ladies’ side USIU Flames were in top form as they also torched the University of Nairobi 73-29.

In the lower division, Strathmore University were felled 56-47 by Eldoret-based Shoot-4-Life while Multi Media University (MMU) beat Eagle Wings 38-26.
