Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) coach Anthony Ojukwu said they will approach each of their Africa Women Basketball League (AWBL) games with a lot of respect.

Speaking after his charges blanked CNSS of the Democratic Republic of Congo 82-46 Tuesday evening, Ojukwu said this was just one game and they still have two more group matches.

“This is a marathon. We have just won one game. We are still in the competition. It's one game at a time,” offered the long-serving Ojukwu.

The porters started the game on the wrong footing as they were down 15-13. They picked themselves up in the second with a devastating 24-4 kick and went on to grab a huge 37-19 margin at the breather.

“We started badly but again I am happy with the win. We just picked up the energy collectively. We just made sure we stayed on top of them,” the tactician said adding, "I told them to push and bring in energy."

In the third quarter, the Congolese took over the game with a 19-12 edge before being out-scored 26-15 in the deciding stanza by the Kenyan champions.

On the second game, he said, “We will not underestimate our opponents. We will approach each game with a lot of respect.”

Victoria Reynolds, who buried 23 points, said the team will gel more with the new players as the tourney continues as we practice together. Madina Okot added 20. The losers had 12 from Tania Longuoma and 11 from Gracia Ngiuz.
