Gaspo Women's head coach, James Ondeng is planning to make changes in his squad following poor results in the Kenya Women's Premier League this season.

Gaspo, who were last season's runners-up,  have lost six of their eight matches this season and the coach is blaming it on a blunt attack. Gaspo are currently in relegation with four points.

Ondeng is counting on the upcoming transfer window to make changes and put the team back on track.

In an interview, Ondeng said, "We have our eyes on a few players to bolster the squad. My primary focus is to beef up our attack. We have the potential but our players need to believe in themselves first and bring their A-game."

With our transfer window set to run the entire month and clubs having the opportunity to shuffle their line-ups, Ondeng sees this as an opportunity to dodge relegation once more.

He admitted that dealing with mid-season transfers is the most difficult thing for any tactician.

"January is always tricky when it comes to transfers because assessing a player's overall performance becomes a challenge," he explained.

However, Ondeng said his game plan for the transfer window is clear and all he wants is to fortify specific positions in a bid to bolster the squad's resilience.

The tactician said the only way they can stave off the looming relegation is by injecting fresh blood into the squad. "I'm eyeing replacements for about six to eight players," he revealed.

Gaspo's current season has been a rollercoaster of a win, a draw and six losses.

Ondeng is banking on past success stories from the previous transfer windows, where strategic player acquisitions turned the tide in their favour.

The team experienced a notable decline in performance following the departure of their leading scorer, Elizabeth Wamui, also known as 'Wambo'. Wamui, who previously played for Zetech, recently joined Simba FC in Tanzania.

In a bid to turn their fortunes around, Gaspo Women's head coach is determined to script a comeback story and guide the team up the league standings.

According to the tactician, it is a do-or-die for them if they are to stay in the top tier next season.

"It's one day at a time but I believe with the changes beckoning, they will return to their best shape," he concluded.
